So what is so new about 2009?

So what is so new about 2009? I get the impression that if we do certain things the old year's problems, panics, and perils will all just vanish and everything becomes new. I think that many feel if they watch a crystal ball fall at midnight then the new year will be different. Some think that that if they throw a good new years eve party all the situations of the past year will be satisfied. Some I feel think that if they pray the old year out and the new year in that will make for a new year and a prosperous one at that. We know that the three horsemen of despair, problem, panic, and peril, will ride in on fresh horses to keep our spirits quenched. We carry our sins right into the new calendar year. We carry our uncommitted spirtual laziness right into the new year. I don't think I need depress us any further I think you get the point. There is no new year without a new spirit within us. This new spirit must be submitted and committed to the Lord Jesus Christ. So what is so new about 2009? It has to be us. It is letting God carry our problems and panics. It is letting the Holy Spirit do the directing of our lives. It is blindly trusting God in ALL things not just the ones we want Him to handle. It is accepting the peace that only God can give. (Phil 4:6-7 - And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.) There is only one way this New Year of 2009 will be new and that is if we let Christ be in control of our lives, families, and His church. We must submit and commit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in ALL things then 2 Cor 5:16-17 ... if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! Jesus is Coming soon and maybe this year of 2009 will be the year of His coming for His church. Happy New Year and may all your resolutions be in Christ Jesus. Pastor.
