Where Is God When It Rains?

This past month of June was not a month to remember for me. It seemed all I could do was fail at everything I tried. I dont know about you but somethines I feel like I live in "Murphy's Law," that is, where if it is going to go wrong it's going to go wrong with me. You ever feel like your nothing but a failure? I think sometimes we all do. This little devotional came to me and I want to pass it on to all of you who have "rained out" days like me. The devotional was encourageing.

Picture this! The place: Wilson's Creek Historic Battlefield, 12 miles west of Springfield, MO. The event: A Civil War Reenactment Weekend. The crowd: Hundreds of participants, with thousands predicted to attend. The WEATHER FORECAST:Rain, rain, more rain. Thunder, Lightning, storms and failure. More rain. WHAT TO DO? "Go ahead as planned--it rained during the Civil War; if THEY survived, so can we!" And with that determinatrion, the show went on that weekend, a great tribute to history and the memory of some brave men, both North and South.

Now, Picture this! The place: Anywhere on Planet Earth. The event: Our lives. The crowd: A watching world of family, church, friends and enemies--and the enemy of our soul, lurking around the corner too! The WEATHER FORECAST: rain, thunder, lightning and failure--storms that umbrellas don't shield from; mud that does more than soil our clothing; situations over which we have no control...and IS FAILURE OUR LOT? WHAT TO DO? WHERE IS GOD? HELP!!!

Well, have faith because (1) He's STILL here..with us in the storm, watching over us and ours. He'll never faorsake us. (2) He's STILL there..wherever the situation lies, however bleak, depressing or hopeless..He remains. (3) He's STILL everywhere overseeing all the storms--floods, tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes and failures of our lives. He reigns as King forevermore; He rides the storms--and he'll bring us through victoriously!

Well, I guess we might as well "Go ahead as planned"...God is with us. He will see us through. He's with us today,  this past month and this new month of July. He is with us yesterday, today, tomorrow and the next day as well--EVEN in the rain out and feelings of failure. Believe it--now go ahead and plan and march forward--singin' in the storm, splashin' through the mud, flying through the failure, dashin' through the drops, and have a great July--for His SON still shines!

How about a Word from God Himself: Nahum 1:3, 7. "His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and clouds are the dust of His feet. The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him,"

How about a little prayer: "Lord, the forecast is not good. There's rain ahead--or there's rain right now..and we need You. Help us feel Your presence, not only in the sunshine of our lives, but the storms as well, You are there--in us, with us, beside us--and we are safe in Your care. That's all we need to know. Help us believe it. In Jesus' Name, Amen."
